Based in Australia’s ‘culture capital’ - Adelaide, South Australia - LWD has been company whose experience and special talents combine to present new Australian dance of an international calibre.
Wherever possible during its 21 years of creative activity, the company partnered with composers, musical groups and visual artists of various cultures to create works which challenge the dancers and the art forms themselves - appealing to audiences of all ages.
LWD has performed extensively overseas - at the Edinburgh International Festival, Holland Dance Festival (The Hague), The Turning World Festival (London), Seoul International Dance Festival (Korea) and in Singapore, Indonesia, Japan and the USA. The company has also performed in every corner of Australia - from capital cities to numerous regional centres.
The company has received many accolades - Australian Dance Awards, a national Sidney Myer Performing Arts Award, several Green Room Awards and numerous Adelaide Critics’ Circle Awards.
In 2014 Daniel Jaber was appointed Resident Choreographer and in 2015 LWD's Artistic Director. With Daniel's re-location to Los Angeles LWD carefully considered the company's future and determined that Adelaide needed greater support for its independent dance artists.
In February 2016 the LWDance Hub was launched, a place where Adelaide's dance artists hone their skills through residencies, workshops and open house sessions.
