Kaine was born and raised in Whyalla, South Australia.
Of Aboriginal, Afghan and Yugoslavian descent, Kaine's cultural
and spiritual connections are to the Arrernte people of the Central
Desert regions in the Northern Territory.
Kaine graduated from the National Aboriginal
and Islander Skills Association (NAISDA) before completing an Advanced
Diploma in Dance at the Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts
(ACPA), Queensland in 2010.
He has performed at the Sydney Opera House as
part of the 2008 Deadly Awards, the Brisbane Festival, Midsumma
Festival in Melbourne, and as part of the opening performance for
the National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC)
Ball.
Kaine was hand picked from a nation wide application
to work with Expressions Dance Company for a summer intensive program
and performed with the company in Launch Pad - Double Act
choreographed by Gina Rings.
In 2010 he performed in Souls Entwined,
an industry showcase featuring choreography by Gina Rings, Richard
Causer, Zaimon and Lizzie Vilmanis, Penny Mullen as well as Bangarra
Dance Theatres' White from the work Ochres. He has
also performed in 'I'm only 40 years Old', directed by Russell
Smith, Reflections directed by Leah Purcell and as a soloist
at the St Kilda Festival and the Queensland Quandamooka Health Forum
on Stradbroke Island.
In September 2010 Kaine was one of twelve students
selected by ACPA to travel to Silo Cultural Institute in Paraty,
Brazil to undertake an exchange between indigenous cultures.
He joins the company to perform in Breathe
at WOMADelaide 2011.
