gala moody

Gala Moody is a graduate of the WA Academy of Performing Arts. Gala has worked with Frances d’Ath’s Zeroballet Company, Amanda Phillips’ Company of, Leigh Warren & Dancers and Canadian experimental arts group Pazzia Contemporary Performing Collective.

Gala’s choreographic works include over the far side (2003), The Taxi Symphony (2004), Bi Er (performed in China 2005), Couch for the Quantum Leap Youth Choreographic Ensemble’s season of Landscapes at the Canberra Playhouse 2006, The Jesuit Novice of Ossegg for the Australian Institute of Classical Dance’s 2006 Dance Creation season at the National Theatre in Melbourne and Shelf Life for the Barebones Dance Collective’s Adelaide Fringe 2007 season at the Space Theatre.

Gala has performed in several dance works for film including Extermination, Hell, and Temperance by Paul Williams, Starc by Paul Zivkovich and Glen McCurley, She speaks her own Language and Around my upper cerebrum somewhere by Michael Carter and 3D film Experimentia by Amanda Phillips. Gala attended Impulstanz Festival 2007 in Vienna on a DanceWEB Scholarship. There she took part in workshops with influential artists including Meg Stuart, Phillipe Rierra and Chrysa Parkinson. Gala has taken her experience at Impulstanz into her new project, a collaboration with Sarah Cartwright, Alisdair Macindoe and artist Sasha Grbich for the Next Wave Festival in Melbourne and the SALA festival in Adelaide in 2008.
