Through
the medium of film and dance performance, three generations of artists
express their thoughts and feelings about their lives and experiences.
In interviews on film
some of South Australia's most outstanding female dance artists
- Elizabeth Cameron Dalman, Sandra Craig, Dorinda Hafner and Zora
Semberova - talk with Artistic Director Leigh Warren, about their
careers and significant experiences. Representing the first generation,
these artists and their work have been studied by dancers who are
only now hitting the peaks of their careers. The film stands alone
as a documentary record of outstanding South Australian female dance
artists, whose career in the arts has made a significant contribution
to the artistic and cultural life of Australia.
The second generation,
women who now have young families, are live in the studio. These
artists respond verbally and physically to the stories and experiences
of the first generation.
The third generation
- current female members of Leigh Warren & Dancers - take their
responses and subject matter from generations one and two, and transpose
them into dance.
