Bec began dancing with Robbyn Garrett-Doyle at
Avant Ballet Studio, Adelaide. As a teenager, Bec performed with
The Australian Youth Ballet Company and completed Cecchetti Ballet
Syllabus examinations along with SACE Dance in high school.
Bec completed her training at Adelaide College
of the Arts, receiving a Bachelor of Dance Performance and performing
in works by Jo Stone, Aidan Munn, Brooke Stamp, Leigh Warren and
Peter Sheedy. While in her third year at college, after performing
in Leigh Warren's Roadkill, Bec was asked to join the company
for the 2009 performance of Impulse at the Holland Dance
Festival.
2009 was an exciting year for Bec. She made a
successful application for extra funding from The Helpmann Academy
to stage the College's Graduating Showcase and has also choreographed
and performed at a corporate awards event.
Upon graduating in 2009, Bec received the Helpmann Academy's South
Australian Rising Star award presented by The Minter Ellison Law
Firm in Adelaide.
In 2010 Bec joined the company and also co-choreographed
an independent short-work for Ausdance's choreolab season titled
Portal. Bec has been a sessional lecturer at Adelaide College
of the Arts and teaches public dance classes for the company, along
with ballet and contemporary at various levels.
